Does the Town allow for street and special events on Town property?

Yes, Nashville's Code of Ordinances allows for festivals, food truck rodeos, concerts, street fairs, festivals, carnivals, parades, marches, rallies, demonstrations and other activities or public events that require the temporary closing or obstruction of all or a portion of any street or other public right-of-way. Special events shall be considered only if sponsored by a local government, civic group, non-profit organization or business.

Where can I read about the Town's regulations related to street and special events in the Town of Nashville?

Visit the Town Ordinances page: Street and Special Events.

What if I am not a part of a local government, civic group, non-profit organization or business?, but would still like to host an event in Nashville?

If you are not a part of one of our approved event groups, you have the option to partner or find sponsorship with an approved group. For more information about this, please call us at 459-4511, ext. 221.

How do I apply for the required permit? How long does the process typically take from start to finish?

To apply for a Special Events permit, see the permit application above. Most permits are reviewed and approved within 30-90 days, but your event is NOT officially approved until the Town has completed its full review and made a recommendation to the Town Council. We cannot guarantee approval if the event is scheduled to take place in less than 30 days after the submittal of a permit application. The sooner you submit the permit application, the higher likelihood it will be approved well in advance of your event date. Please do not advertise your event before the permit is approved by the Town.
