**Public Notice**  The Public is hereby notified of a Special Called Meeting of the Nashville Town Council on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 7:00 pm in Town Council Chambers, 114. W. Church Street, Nashville, NC. 

The purpose of the meeting is to allow for public comment on a proposal by the Town Council to consider purchasing approximately 120 acres of land located at 901 Birchwood Drive, Nashville, NC, the Birchwood Country Club property. The Town Council has submitted a proposal to the Board of Directors of Birchwood  Park, Inc. expressing the Town's interest in acquiring the property for public use.  

If the Town is successful  in acquiring the property, the initial plan would be to renovate the clubhouse and pool area to serve as a multipurpose events and recreation center for the citizens of Nashville. The Council's hope and  belief is that there are grant funds available to assist with the cost of converting and upgrading both facilities.  The balance of the property would be maintained as open space until a master plan can be developed to determine its best use; one that takes into consideration its effect on the adjoining properties and whether the use provides for the betterment of all citizens of our community.
